Organic Gourmet Halvah with Citrus

Halvah has featured in the eastern Mediterranean table for centuries. Citrus fruits are indigenous to the Mediterranean basin, and in fact many people associate this part of the world with the luscious citrus fruits grown in orchards as far as the eye can see.  Our gourmet chef Kamel Hashalmon uses traditional methods in the creation of our halvah, thereby brining the tastes from years gone by to our palettes. Kamal uses organic sesame seeds grown in Ethiopia; he brings them to Jerusalem and Nablus where he methodically grinds them between his antique basalt-cut millstones which he bought from the area of Aleppo, Syria. Once the seeds are ground to a flavor packed sesame paste, he will with love and attention gradually add the sugars, and finally the fine citrus flecks to give the finished halvah bar the distinctive flavors, appearance, and texture of our Organic Gourmet Halvah with Citrus.

The addition of the citrus to the regular halvah bar is isn’t just a decision based on taste alone. The yellow and orange flecks provide the Organic Gourmet Halvah with Citrus bar a fresh and tangy appearance that is not only crisp and modern, but also deep and inviting. Halvah is a very healthy snack, and our Organic Gourmet Halvah with Citrus uses no artificial ingredients. The bar contains no less than 90% sesame content, whilst we insist that the sugar content is kept to a minimum with no more than 5%. Due to the high quality of the raw materials, halvah is an excellent source of various minerals, vitamins, and other nutrients.
